It was such a quaint, beautiful hotel with lots of character. The staff were very friendly. It's located just a short vaporetto ride away from the hustle and bustle in Venice. You feel like you have your own island to yourself! The breakfast was great in the morning. We loved it!
Room was a bit small, but that's Europe in general.
I would agree with the other numerous reviews of this hotel. Excellent value for money. It is a very nice small hotel. Clean and very comfortable. We chose it specifically for its location on this specific island to be close to friends at the Cipriani but I would definitely stay here again. The peace and quiet was great and it is just a short boat trip away from the tourist hub. Be aware though that the water bus is not cheap. You can't be running backwards and forwards to your hotel.
This hotel is tricky to find and there are no signs. I followed the instructions from another reviewer and found it easily but would have been lost without these simple directions. As you leave the water bus turn left. Walk along the water until you cross a bridge. Turn left at the first narrow passage after the bridge. The hotel is at the end on the right hand corner of the square. The internet access was not great.
Pleasant and helpful staff. Location was quiet, charming, off the beaten track. We greatly enjoyed being in an area of Venice where real people lived (not just tourists) seeing local people shopping, chatting, looking after children etc. Cool and airy environment for a summer stay. Convenient for the Giardini (Biennale etc) and for downtown Venice sights, from which one could then escape to a tranquil base.
The output of the coffee machine was not up to the standard of the otherwise excellent breakfast.
The hotel is ideally situated. You are only 5 minutes, at the most, by vaporetto from St. Mark's Square and the main tourist attractions of Venice and yet you can return to the peace of Giudecca every evening and have the best of both worlds. The waterfront of Giudecca is full of reasonably priced restaurants and Trattorias which all have a wonderful view of St. Mark's Square and the main island. The hotel was extremely clean and only a two minute walk from the main waterfront. It was also very quiet. Breakfast was served in a light, airy room and had a wide choice to suit everyone. We will certainly return.
The location was very good, situated on Giudecca island the hotel was very quiet and with a few good restaurants near by. The stuff was friendly and ready to help out. The room was very clean.
The room was small and without a proper window. The breakfast was poor.
The window on the Canal. The quiet serene atmosphere of Guiudecca island.
Well, the room could have been roomier, but nat at that price if we are realistic.
The hotel staff was friendly, the rooms where nice and clean and the location was quiet but yet close to the city centre.
the staff is verry friendly and professional educated.
Giudecca is a island without bridges to Venice so transport is only with Vaporetto ( line 2) and water taxi ( 100 euros to airport) hotel has it's own private dock. The hotel was very comfortable, nicely renovated with 24 hour staff. Directions there are the most important. Turn left from the Vaporetto stop Palanca , walk across the first bridge, 20 paces and you come to a tiny alleyway turn in and walk to the end where the hotel with it's beautiful limestone floor and glass windows will surprise you. Not more than a 10 minute stroll. Good restaurants right by the water without the crowds of St Marks.
The staff at the Hotel Domina were so nice and welcoming! My husband and I stayed there as part of our anniversary trip...when we arrived late in the evening, the gal at the check in counter warmly greeted us and congratulated us on our occasion. The hotel itself is located in a lovely, quite area away from the hustle & bustle of the tourist mayhem that is San Marco. There are two water bus platforms within a very short amount of walking time (5-7 minutes), and it is a 10-15 minute ride to San Marco Square. I can't speak highly enough about the pleasant experience we had! If we ever go back to Venice, we'll definitely stay there again & I'm recommending this hotel to all my friends!!!
Located away from the hustle and bustle yet conveniently close by Vaporetto to St Mark's Square. Chance to experience more everyday life of Venice and local residents. Plenty of eateries with great view across the water. Very nice breakfast
From the letter of confirmation to our departure, we felt so welcomed with smiles, courtesy, good communication and happy to talk from all the staff. I was thrilled to have discovered this hotel to celebrate my impending 60th birthday and would certainly recommend it and return ourselves, hopefully before the 70th birthdays !!
If we have to say anything, freshly brewed coffee at breakfast would have been appreciated instead of a coffee/tea machine.
tastefully decorated, quiet, helpful staff
a bit expensive for relatively remote location
people in hotel was so friendly and helpful
The hotel is away from home, but in an adjacent Giudeca island, from which you can get to San Marco in 15 minutes by boat vapareto. Hotel near the channel (not all rooms have windows to the channel), in a quiet location, clean and neat.
Hotel staff was pleasant, but is not the internet point (for wireless connection, which is not available in all rooms). Also do not always work well mobile communications (perhaps because of the thick stone walls).
